‹Coalescing Towards› unfolds through repetition, synchronicity and the slow accumulation of intensity. Simple gestures circulate between bodies until their origins become uncertain, gathering into a shared pulse that never quite settles. Across an extended duration, bodies approach and withdraw, coincide and remain apart. Display becomes intimacy, repetition becomes difference, and the distinction between watching and being amongst begins to blur.

Drawing on Michele Rizzo’s long engagement with ecstatic dance, the work carries something of the night: its freedom, vanity and exhaustion, its fleeting alliances and unstable forms of belonging. Togetherness appears as a direction, momentarily sensed and never fully arrived at.

Performed by an ensemble of dancers, the work travels through a choreographic score that remains intact while being inhabited anew in each place. A local cast encounters the choreography alongside a newly commissioned score by a local musician, making each iteration both the same and irreducibly different. Coalescing Towards becomes a temporary social formation: flirtatious, intense and porous, suspended somewhere between individual presence and collective euphoria.
