Nele Tiidelepp’s Nights Around Counting Steps (and Fade to Black) slips in and out of rhythm, finding its groove only to lose it again. Three performers remember, misremember, imitate one another, pick up speed, hang around and start again. Accompanied by an original EDM/trance soundtrack by Finnish musician Keliel, they descend into the night. As visibility thins, shapes and shadows take over, while repetition, synchronicities and momentum carry us through the dark. With a playful, gentle and stubborn devotion to the ordinary, the work keeps repeating until something gives. A small opening appears, a rhythm slips, and for a moment the impossible seems not only possible, but already happening.
