Stainless but without i begins with a body inside an American car moving west from Seoul. Not towards somewhere perhaps but away from having a place. Asphalt borders weather fatigue and duration loosen the traveller from travelling the body from landscape until movement no longer belongs entirely to either. Strangers appear and disappear not as identities to encounter or cultures to understand but as temporary intensities passages through which something becomes other.
The car—this peculiar monument to individual freedom expansion and the promise of the West—moves in the opposite direction: towards dispossession towards becoming landscape becoming imperceptible. Destination withdraws and travelling remains producing a space without centre where orientation is provisional and belonging continuously postponed. Travelling alone becomes less a journey than a practice of becoming homeless to oneself.

Yoon Daelan is a Korean choreographer and performer whose work approaches
movement as something that exceeds the dancing body. Moving between
choreography, sound, everyday actions and unusual performance situations, he is
interested in how bodies adapt to environments, rhythms and durations. His recent work ‹FORD E-350›, a one-to-one performance inside a converted van, extends this interest toward mobility, intimacy and the unstable boundaries between performance and life.
